Spooktalkular Episode 042
Tonight, we returned to a little more typical Spooktalkular, if there is such a thing. First of all, out ghost has a name. It’s Pottsie!
We start out by taking our normal looks at ‘Ghost Adventures’ and ‘Ghost Hunters’. Laura does an in-depth discussion of the ‘Mystery Quest’ that dealt with Jack the Ripper. We also talk about the brand new series. ‘Ghost Hunters: Academy’
During our break, we check out some music from the awesome band AMORIC. The name if the song is ‘Only For You’.
The second half of the show, we check out an incredibly interesting interview that we did with Eric Espejo and Aaron Goodmiller from 19th and Wilson Productions. They talk to us about their new picture named ‘Ghosts Don’t Exist’. We love the trailer and everything we have learned about the movie so far. We here at Spooktalkular have another reason to like the movie. Our good friend Troy from over at The Millennium Group Sessions Podcast.

Well that was an enjoyable listen. As we speak I have downed tools and am trawling the net looking for information about Mrs. Ripper – the power of the podcast eh? I think it’s inherently inconceivable for us to accept that a woman could have committed such acts of violence, especially against other women, but even in the day it was postulated that the perpetrator could have been female, Abberline himself considered this very theory with the most commonly accepted idea being that the woman may well have been a woman or an abortionist.
I read a diatribe online of late (coming from someone well versed in Ripper lore) that dismissed the notion outright based on the rarity of female serial killers but rarity does not mean impossibility and to dismiss this based on probability seems foolhardy given that none of the major suspects have ever been proven to be the killer. People think outside the box a little more.
Anyhow, I ramble. I love the fact that you guys support independent productions. I have a huge passion for these myself, many great names have honed their craft on projects like these and free from the confines of studio meddling the creativity is often more evident than in many mainstream ventures. I saw a link that Richard posted about “Judith” the Halloween prequel and that looks superb and is another independent production I will most certainly support. With very little concrete info about it I’d love to hear from them on your show?
Anyhow, great stuff as always and keep loving what you’re doing because as long as you do we will keep loving it too.
This is who we are!
Mark
Oops – the line above should be MIDWIFE or an abortionist. I think I’d already established I was talking about a woman
Being actively involved in Law Enforcement for many years, haunting various crime scenes and such I might recommend a very interesting book by one of the foremost FBI profilers, in fact one of the original Profilers. John Douglas.
The book is titled, ‘The Cases That Haunt Us” and it delves into the profiles of the killers in each of several famous cases including Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Bordon. FBI profilers are very accurate with their assesments and descriptions of probable suspects, which has been metted out over the years with their success rate in capturing individuals based on profiles.
without giving anything away, of particualr interest was the section on the Jack the Ripper case, and Douglas, taking into account everything that was known from the case and the suspeacts at the time goes as far as naming a probable suspect.
Read the book for a fascinating and enlightening journey into cases that have gone unsolved or where doubt still remains.
I know I sound like a commercial but thought you might be interested in the book.
Back to my haunt…Boo!
Mark, I just added the guy that did the Judith movie to our Myspace so we’ll see if we can get them on to talk about the project. Glad you liked the show. We’re planning on talking about the other Jack the Ripper special that Laura mentioned during the show next week.
We do absolutely love doing the show and it’s such an honor that other people enjoy it enough to spend time from their live listening to it. We’re going to keep on for quite a while yet.
Take care,
Frank
Pottsie,
Thanks for haunting by. We are so glad to have you give us a listen. I just checked Amazon and amazingly, the book is only 7.99. We’ll be adding that to the old cart. I am always so interested when we see these old cases being looked at with modern techniques. I noticed that they take a look at the JonBenet case and one of my favorite old cases, the Black Dahlia Murder.
After we get it and read it, I’d love to pick your brain some to get your thoughts on some of these old cases.
Thanks again for lending us your talent. It is such a pleasure to hear your work and we try to give RadioDaddy.com props whenever we can.
Next week, we’re going to be talking about the Jack the Ripper special so it should be interesting as well.
Spook to you later!
Frank
Wow! “Millenium” info, “Ghost Hunters” & “Ghost Don’t Exist” all in one show! I’m loving it!
Glad you liked it D. We enjoyed talking to Eric and Aaron so much! Can’t wait to see the movie!
At last, I have finally finished listening to Spooktalkular no.42! Although I need to listen to the Jack the Ripper segment again. When there is a lot of detail in the podcast you need to listen to it properly. When there isn’t so much detail and it’s a subject on the show which you’re not as interested in you don’t need to rewind the podcast to catch something you missed.
Have you heard of two films, one is called “Haunting Villisca” and the other “Lonely Joe”?
I haven’t watched the trailer for Ghosts Don’t Exist yet but I will be doing so.
The bit towards the beginning of the show (around the 15-20 minutes mark) about the island in Venice (forgive my spelling..Purveilia) was also where Yvette Fielding and Paul O’Grady went during part of their Death in Venice programme. Will you be talking about this in a future show?
A great show once again.
