Spooktalkular Episode 044
Short TV week due to Thanksgiving but we had some good talks about ‘Ghost Adventures’ and ‘Ghost Hunters Academy’ none the less. We also briefly talk about a cool independent project we were turned on to named ‘Judith: The Night She Stayed Home‘ and the film ‘A Mannequin In Static’ both by Josh Hasty. We also talk about the cool house in North Carolina that is a replica of the Myers house from the original ’Halloween’.
This week, our Independent Music Break featured ‘Chaos Engine’ from the band Tenpenny Joke. Remember to support independent music.
Jonathan Farrell joins us to talk about Paranormal Investigation and his site Perception9 Paranormal. Awesome interview. Laura solo’d it and it turned out great. Jonathan was incredibly interesting.

Hi guys,
Very enjoyable podcast as always and I was stunned to learn that the band from the first musical interlude are unsigned. I loved the track, someone needs to snap them up.
Now there is where I venture into Scully territory. I thought the Jonathan Farrell interview was great, incredible enjoyable and some good chemistry between Laura and Jonathan but EVP always leaves me cold and not in a spooked kinda way.
Channelling my inner Scully here, I would say it’s a case of the brain giving coherence to incoherent sounds, a perfectly natural phenomena and given that there is a question posed, and a high degree of anticipation for a suitable answer, I can see how we can easily give shape to something shapeless.
Anyone who knows me knows I am a passionate advocate of the paranormal but EVP just doesn’t float my boat. That’s my bad I guess.
Altogether a very, very though provoking episode and I would love to hear you own thoughts on EVP in the future.
Nice to see a mention of “Judith” which I am really looking forward too.
Keep up the good work and keep it spooky!

I’m sure I’ve heard of Tenpenny Joke on Planet Sound on teletext here. I liked the sound and the song. They reminded me (especially at the start) of The Eagles.
The interview with Jonathan Farrell was interesting. The bit about speaking to the ghosts and asking them for a signal, responding to a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ from the presenters, made me think back to the two-part special Death in Venice (although the presenters didn’t do that too much during their visits to the haunted places in Venice).
I enjoyed the mention of the short film Judith, as it sounds like a very good project, and the teaser trailer was impressive.
The talk about the film Mannequin reminded me of the song from the film. Do you remember Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship? An 80′s classic.
An enjoyable podcast. I have one question though..when will discussion of Medium return to the podcasts?
Well that was a mammoth season,..and a very enjoyable one! Laura and Frank, you deserve a long rest to relax and recuperate.
The banter between yourselves, along with the jokes and features has/have been a delight to listen to.
