Spooktalkular Episode 046
This was a little disorganized episode due to our traveling during the holidays. Laura talks about a couple of ‘Paranormal State’ episodes along with a ‘Ghost Adventures’ episode. After a break with the song ‘Only For You’ from AMORIC, we jumped right in to hammering out the 2009 Spooktalkular Parawards nominees. We’ll make a final pass on the nominees next week and then open it up to voting. There are a couple of “Not Safe For Work” moments in this one but nothing like last week.
Hope you enjoy

Spooktalkular Episode 044
Short TV week due to Thanksgiving but we had some good talks about ‘Ghost Adventures’ and ‘Ghost Hunters Academy’ none the less. We also briefly talk about a cool independent project we were turned on to named ‘Judith: The Night She Stayed Home‘ and the film ‘A Mannequin In Static’ both by Josh Hasty. We also talk about the cool house in North Carolina that is a replica of the Myers house from the original ’Halloween’.
This week, our Independent Music Break featured ‘Chaos Engine’ from the band Tenpenny Joke. Remember to support independent music.
Jonathan Farrell joins us to talk about Paranormal Investigation and his site Perception9 Paranormal. Awesome interview. Laura solo’d it and it turned out great. Jonathan was incredibly interesting.

Spooktalkular Episode 038
Another incredibly fun episode. Tonight we talk about the sad news of an indefinite hiatus from the incredible folks over at Ghostly Talk. ScottL, Doug and Bonnie have produced a first class show now for almost 8 years. Ghostly Talk is the rule by which the rest of independent paranormal podcast/radio should be judged. Guys, we’ll miss you and anxiously await your return! We also talk a little about some of the upcoming format changes here at Spooktalkular. As we’ve mentioned, we’re planning on going a little deeper into some serious paranormal topics. We start that off next week with a very special guest live, the incredibly interesting Marie D. Jones who will be talking all things 2012 with us.
As for this week, we dissect ‘Paranormal Activity‘. Be warned, if you haven’t seen it, we do a fairly lengthy discussion on it with an unlimited supply of spoilers. In a nutshell, we loved the concept but really feel more could have been done with it. After that, we talk some TV with ‘Ghost Hunters’, ‘Destination Truth’ and ‘Mystery Quest’.
Our Independent Music Break featured the song Oxygen from the incredibly talented Erica Shines. Be sure to pick up Erica’s album ‘I Will Wait For You’ over at CDBaby and always support independent music!
We round out the show with a wrap up of episodes 12 and 13 of ‘Harper’s Island’ and replay the Jim Beaver interview we did a few months back.
A couple of notes. Be sure to send in your Spooky Stories for the contest. Also, join us live on October 30th at 8:00PM Eastern when we’ll have the chat open along with the Mic for a special Spooktalkular. We’ll be watching the Ghost Adventures Live crew when they investigate the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Be sure to get your Skype ready because we’ll be having listeners call in while we watch it.
Also, be sure to tune on on October 29th on the History Channel for a four hour marathon of the remaining ‘UFO Hunters’ episodes! And, if you haven’t signed the petition to keep ‘UFO Hunters’ on the air, do it now. Head over to www.ufomag.com and follow the link from there.

Spooktalkular Episode 037
Another awesome love show! We had a blast chatting with the Spookchattie’s tonight. Another name has been proposed… The Spooky Groupies. I like em both. We intro the Spooktalkular YouTube channel. So far, only the Mothman Hayride video from us… But look for more. We also talk about our format change of moving towards more serious paranormal topics.
Where to start, it was a busy episode. We started out with a cool interview with Alex Price who played Gilbert on the hit BBC series ‘Being Human‘.
From there, we head into our television coverage with a surprising newcomer this week, ‘South Park’ and the episode ‘Dead Celebrities‘ where our paraplumbers Jay and Grant get parodied in awesome form. You really know you’ve arrived when you’re spoofed on ‘South Park’! From there, we hit into ‘Ghost Hunters’, ‘Destination Truth’ and ‘Mystery Quest’. We also discuss the new show ‘Ghost Lab’. So far, we agree that we really like the personalities of the brothers but it’s really nothing new as far as format. We’ll discuss it more in the coming weeks.
We also talk about the upcoming ‘Ghost Adventures’ Live event at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum where the ‘Ghost Adventures’ Crew will be spending the night on October 30 starting at 8:00PM ET. Looks awesome!
Our Independent Music Break featured the song ‘Now or Never’ from the band AG Silver! Awesome sound and they seem like great people also. Please support Independent Media of all forms!
We wrap up the show with a recap of ‘Harper’s Island’ episode 11, Splash. The Cal/Chloe death scene is the best in the series! The song used for that scene is ‘Letters From The Sky’ by Civil Twilight. It’s availible for free for a limited time from iTunes.

Spooktalkular Episode 027
We have what could be considered for some a treat but yet for others Hell on Earth. This week, we are doing a test run at a live show. What we mean is we’re not going to edit this week’s show but instead, record it in one take. I cringed hard and fought the urge to fire up Audacity and start cutting but we have to get used to it because when you’re live, there’s no retake.
With that said, a good episode. We start off with a quick reminder. If you’d like a chance to win a signed copy of one of M.R. Sellars first three books be sure to send an email to show at spooktalkular.com before the next Friday with the subject of “I Like Free Books”. On next week’s show we’ll announce the winners.
We take a peek at the new Peter Jackson film ‘District 9′ due out on August 14th. Cool trailer to listen to but even cooler to watch. You can check it out on the movies home page. Laura takes us into some Haunted Headlines for some interesting tidbits. From there, we visit Classic Cinema for a look back at the 1980 film ‘The Fog‘.
Heading into television, we take a look at ‘Monster Quest’, a great episode of ‘Ghost Adventures’, ‘Ghost Hunters International’ and what will be our last visit to ‘The Listener’ since NBC has pulled the plug on it.
All in all, great episode. Next week, interviews return.
This week’s Independent Music break is a great band out of Canada ‘The Wakening‘ with the cool song ‘Losing Control’! As always, we are proud to feature Independent bands and we urge everyone to be sure to support Independent Music.
Thanks for listening and see ya next week!

Spooktalkular Episode 026
Wow, what an episode. It’s our longest to date, clocking in at a little over two and a half hours. Spooky news is no more. Listen to see what the replacement is. ;) For Classic Cinema this week, we take a look back at the groundbreaking independent picture ‘The Blair Witch Project‘ which hits it’s ten year anniversary this month. It’s hard to believe that it has been ten years!
We have an incredible treat for television this week. We start off with discussions on ‘The Listener’ and ‘Ghost Hunters International’ then we head into a cool episode of ’Ghost Adventures’ who are in Savannah Georgia’s own Moon River Brewing Company. We have a bonus little treat this week for ‘Ghost Adventures’, we are very pleased to share an incredible interview that we did with Nick Groff from the team. Nick actually gives us some insight into the episode that we discuss this week.
That in itself would make for an awesome show but since we had missed the ‘Harper’s Island’ finale discussion last week, we dedicate over an hour alone to discussing the last three episodes including some audio and another awesome interview from ‘Harper’s Island’s’ own Sheriff Mills, the incredibly talented actor Jim Beaver. I know some people were wondering about the song in the Chloe/Cal death scene on episode eleven. It is ‘Letters from the Sky’ by Civil Twilight which was a great choice to set the mood.
We figured one week of music from ‘the Devil Himself‘ wasn’t enough so we’re proud to feature them again this week with another incredible track named ‘Bulletproof’. As always, be sure to support independent music!
So, do you see now why it was such a long episode now? ;) Seriously, it was a blast so we hope you enjoy it!

Spooktalkular Episode 025
Well, Episode 25 is quite a bit delayed but on next weeks show, you will find out why AND, you will agree it was well worth the delay. This week though, Spooktalkular turns one year old and we are celebrating. We reflect on the first year and hop in the wayback machine to visit the very first show. Have we ever changed….
As part of our reflection, we thank a great deal of the fine folks who have helped us over the past year. We have had so much help, it’s possible that we missed some people. If we missed you, we assure you it wasn’t intentional. The most important people to Spooktalkular are the incredible listeners. We thank you for your time, we know it’s valuable so the fact you give up your time to listen to what we do touches us greatly every week. Thank you!
We do briefly cover new shows this week from ‘MonsterQuest’, ‘Ghost Adventures’ and ‘The Listener’. It was also the season two premier of ‘Ghost Hunters International’ so we give them a quick visit as well.
This weeks Independent Music Break features a band out of Santa Cruz, California named the Devil Himself. Head over to http://www.myspace.com/devilhimselfmusic and check them out! The song is ‘Deserted’ and it rocks!
You often hear us talk about the fine group of people that are behind the effort to have a ‘Millennium’ movie made. James and Troy from backtofrankblack.com and the ‘Millennium Group Sessions’ podcast stop by to wish us Happy Birthday. It’s really a great time.
Okay, I can’t make you wait until next week. I’m just not that mean. The reason for the delay was a couple of last minute interviews that will be in next weeks show. To tie in with our ‘Harper’s Island’ wrap up next week, we have a special treat. Jim Beaver who played Sheriff Charlie Mills was great enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to chat with us. Now, if that’s not enough, we will also have an great interview from one of the Travel Channel’s hosts and investigators of ‘Ghost Adventures’, the incredible Nick Groff. See, I told you that you’d agree that the delay was worth it.

Spooktalkular Episode 023
We’ve got a little change this episode, we don’t have an interview. What we do have are discussions on two episodes of “MonsterQuest”, “Ghost Adventures” and a very spirited discussion on the last two episodes of “Harper’s Island”. This week we take a look at the 1960 film “Psycho” in Classic Cinema. If you listened to last weeks episode, you’ll know why.
During our Independent Music Break, we listen to “Century’s Out” from the band that James McLean from backtofrankblack.com was once a part of.
The fabulous writer M.R. “Murv” Sellars was good enough to send us some signed copies of his first three books. Listen next week for details on how you can make one of them yours.
