Spooktalkular Episode 024

Laura and I had a blast recording this one.  We start out with a funny little bit dedicated to the great folks James and Troy over at backtofrankblack.com and the Millennium Group Sessions podcast.  During our brief discussion of their latest episode, we failed to mention that it contained an interview with Michael Buie in addition to M.R. Sellars.

We take a quick look at the Pseudopod Podcast that I discovered this week.  If you like horror, be sure to check it out.

This week is the premier of the new series “Warehouse 13″ and the return of the series “Ghost Hunters: International” for another season.  We also talk about the SciFi channels name change to Syfy.  Yea, I know, I misspelled it during the show.  Let’s just say that we think the name change sucks no matter how it is spelled.

Forums are back online and getting used.  Check them out at http://forums.spooktalkular.com and get in on the discussions.  Be sure to introduce yourself and let’s get the forums active.  We’re getting ready to bring up a new area of the site.  Laura’s decided to start a blog so look for that soon!

We’re still working on getting stuff together for the Mothman Festival on September 19th and 20th.  We’re going to build a teardrop camper to take up with us this year.

Our independent music break this week features the band Early April and thier song “When the Sky Falls” from their freely availible album.  Check out their homepage and download a copy today.

Whew, that’s a lot but there is still lots more to go.  When we return from the break, we give details on how you can win a signed copy of one of M.R. Sellars first three books.  No cheating, you’ve got to listen for details.

Classic Cinema this week covers the 1987 hit horror film “Hellraiser” that brought us Pinhead. TV wasn’t too kind this week as it was a little thin.  Our discussions were limited to “The Listener” and “Ghost Adventures”.

Finally as a treat, hang around after the outro runs and listen to bloopers that we caused while trying to get the M.R. Sellars giveaway recorded right.  It really was a blast.

Spooktalkular Episode 021

We’ve got a great show lined up.  We start off with a little paranormal news, then, we have our first independent music break.  This week’s band is Early April and the song is “Through the eyes of her”  It’s the title track off of their album that’s available as a free download from thier website.  Be sure to check out http://www.earlyapril.com and grab a copy.

When we come back from the break, we talk some TV and we introduce a new segment, Classic Cinema where we discuss the 1987 movie “Near Dark”.  If you have a favorite classic movie that you’d like to hear us discuss drop us a note.

Rounding out the show, we have a real treat.  Bill Birnes joins us from “UFO Hunters” and the “UFO Magazine” and sits down to talk UFOs, “UFO Hunters” and we even talk conspiracy.  It’s really a great interview.  Be sure to head over to the “UFO Magazine” homepage and sign the petition to keep UFO Hunters on the air for next season and many more to come!

The Listener

“The Listener” centers on Toby Logan, a 25-year-old paramedic who has a big secret — he’s a telepath. Until now, Toby kept his ability hidden, exploring its possibilities only with his longtime mentor and confidant, Dr. Ray Mercer. As he makes the rounds with his energetic paramedic partner “Oz” Bey, “The Listener” follows Toby as he tries to help people in crisis, and in the process unravel the truth about his past. While his professional life is in check, Toby’s personal life could use its own rescue. And with the help of Detective Charlie Marks and his E.R. doctor/ex-girlfriend Olivia Fawcett, Toby realizes his gift can help others.

Emotional Rescue – After saving a childhood friend from a burning building, Toby tracks down an arsonist whom he believes might be responsible for a series of fires in the city.

MonsterQuest

Flying Monsters – A deep trek into the jungles of Papua New Guinea which could be hiding a flying creature local villagers call the “Demon Flyer,” whose description is very similar to of the pterosaur of prehistoric origin.

Ghost Adventures

Preston Castle – For the second season opener, the “Ghost Adventures” crew head to California to spend the night in the Preston Castle

Harper’s Island

Gurgle – With Madison gone missing, Abby, Henry, Trish, Chloe, Cal, Jimmy, Sully, Shea, Katherine, Danny, Beth and Maggie stay behind to look for her, missing their chance to get off the island. Meanwhile, Sheriff Mills meets an old friend from the past, J.D. escapes from jail, and three more deaths occur.

Near Dark

A mid-western farm boy reluctantly becomes a member of the undead when a girl he meets turns out to be part of a band of southern vampires who roam the highways in stolen cars. Part of his initiation includes a bloody assault on a hick bar.

Thanks to Ben Castelli for sending us this one.

Ghost Adventures has posted part one of their three-part web-exclusive documentary: The Return to Bobby Mackey’s.

The webisode chronicles the return of Zak, Nick, and Aaron to the setting for one the most intense lockdowns to date. Purported to be the portal to hell, Bobby Mackey’s Music World has a dark past that includes unrequited love, murder, and satanic rituals. Their first visit was a warning, this time the spirits mean business.

Here’s a preview.

Spooktalkular Episode 010

Welcome back for another Spooktalkular.  We took a week off because of the holiday reruns but we’re back with new episodes.  First off, we start the show with a couple of movie reviews of the awesome movie “4th Dimension” and an old school sequal “Return to Sleepaway Camp“.  Then we move on to our normal TV shows.  This week, we’ve got “Estate of Panic”, “Ghost Hunters”, “UFO Hunters”, “Ghost Adventures” and “Ghost Whisperer”.  We share a quick update from the folks over at backtofrankblack.com and talk about an upcoming movie review of Methodic and interview with Methodic director Chris Notarile.  Check out the trailers this one looks like one that you shouldn’t miss.

Ghost Adventures NJ Mental Hospital (Revisit)

During the show last week, I mentioned that I felt that I had deduced where the episode was shot.  This was done through a series of cross references of key points stated during the show.  Well, here are a couple of videos from YouTube for your entertainment.

Spooktalkular Episode 009

Gobble gobble!!!  Happy Thanksgiving from Laura and Frank.  We thought that we would whip out another episode while we preped our turkeys for the big day tomorrow.  We start out discussing the latest ratings.  We debut the brand new Spooktalkular promo and even do movie reviews of Twilight and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.  We even have news about the latest Sleepaway Camp sequel.

We also discuss the Millennium movie effort being mounted by the good folks over at backtofrankblack.com.  If you’re not familiar with the Millennium series of the late 90′s, you should really check it out.  The promo for the effort will be a regular on Spooktalkular since we are both big fans.

Moving on to television, we take a look at “Ghost Hunters”, “Ghost Whisperer”, “Estate Of Panic”, “Ghost Adventures” and lastly “UFO Hunters”.

This episode ran a little long at about one hour thirteen minutes but it’s a fairly good one.  Be sure to check back this weekend because we should be back on schedule this week.

Special thanks to ScottL from over at Ghostly Talk for his technical assistance with some tips for phone interviews.  If you’re not listening to Ghostly Talk, you really should be.

Spooktalkular Episode 008

Busy episode.  Our longest so far.  We start off by discussing some news about Medium and a quick discussion of the movie “The Strangers”.  We then get into our discussion of Television.  We take a look at the new SciFi show “Estate of Panic” along with “Ghost Adventures”, “Ghost Whisperer”, two episodes of “UFO Hunters”, Hollywood Haunts”, “Doomed to Die”, “Monster Quest”, “Is It Real – Ghost Ships” and we finish with “Ghost Hunters” and continue our discussion on the allegations of faking evidence on “Ghost Hunters”.  Whew, that’s a lot of episode!  Here’s the videos that we discussed along with links to the Spooktalkular MySpace and Frank’s Twitter page.

Spooktalkular Episode 007

Another week and another Spooktalkular.  This week is episode 7 recorded on Sunday November 9th.  Good episode where we discuss the twist on “Ghost Whisperer” (Warning, Spoilers included).  We also discuss the “Ghost Adventures” episode in the Riddle House in West Palm, Florida.  We took in the movie “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” so we briefly discuss it.

The bulk of the show is dedicated to the discussion of the “Ghost Hunters” live Halloween episode at Fort Delaware.  This week a YouTube video “TAPS LIES – Ghost Hunters Live – 2008 – Fraud-O-Rama” was released claiming fraud on the part of “Ghost Hunters”.  We review the video and take a look at Jason and Grant’s responses as posted on their MySpace pages.  While you’re at it, check out “The Top Ten Best Video Clips From Ghost Hunters (TAPS)”.  It’s the one we mentioned it during the show.

Keep listening for more details on our upcoming giveaway.
